Current rising underground talent Mavi recently linked with GRiMM DOZA who has become almost a pillar in the underground scene in the past five years for a collaboration that makes almost perfect sense. The Charlotte rapper Mavi spit his laid-back yet verbose bars over the very low-key and mystical instrumental telling stories of his youth and breaking down his current life problems with his now trademark sleepy flows. Mavi has been taking the new niche “alt-rap” (which is a moniker I hate, but there is no better one yet) lane by storm and has impressed the ears of many, including Earl Sweatshirt and MIKE who are the de-facto figureheads for this burgeoning art form. I am incredibly eager to hear what a full Mavi project sounds like in the very near future.
