Hip-Hop is in a peculiar position, at the moment. It’s changing by the day, and so are the trends associated with it, considering it’s now the most popular genre in the world, officially. Change, to me, is always good, and I love the many different forms of music we’ve been gifted as of late in the genre. One of those creative artists is Las Vegas native, Teej, who drops off his fun new EP, 1080p.
At only 6-tracks, the EP Zia literally at the perfect length. From minute one on, “BYE”, to minute 20 on, “BYM”— the project never ever feels rushed, or stagnant. Instead, 1080p feels like a fun, bouncy exploration through the mind of a 20-something inspiring artist, who still deals with the everyday issues of local women.
On the project’s standout track, “Rosecrans,” Teej tells the all-too-familiar story of the doe-eyed girl with the big dreams who makes a few questionable decisions, both financially and personally. Switching perspectives, “Fall” tells the story of an equally as virtuous young man, who reluctantly allows a woman to distract him from what’s in front.
With the feature list stopping short at Asaiah Ziv, ANJL and buzzing trumpeter, Sean Christian, 1080p are all about Teej and his thoughts, making it one of the more authentic releases of the young month. Listen below.
