After almost a decade in the game, Adam Mcllwee continues to grow.

Wicca Phase Springs Eternal’s new album is a sad, raw melting pot of emo, hip-hop, trap, and electronic music. It features Wicca at his most introspective yet, as he delves into themes like work and depression on “Does Your Head Stop”, as well as the inability to communicate in a relationship on “I Need Help”. It feels as if it bridges the gap between contemporary hip-hop and depression-ridden campfire music, much like that of Corbin’s album Mourn.

This is Wicca’s first release on Run For Cover records, and you can hear it in the production, which is entirely handled by DOVES, Will Yip and Adam himself. Booming 808s add a much needed thump to the mixture of icy synths and isolated guitars; like Bigfoot stomping through a gloomy, foggy forest.

Suffer On is Wicca’s first release since Spider Web, his collaborative EP with Clams Casino and Fish Narc, which contained a similar sense of gloom and sadness. However, this album is much more mature, and puts Wicca on a trajectory to transcend the trend of emo-rap that he helped pioneer.
