The minds of Nazeem & Spencer Joles are really in another dimension. They’re true creatives in every sense of the word, as the duo writes and produces all of their own content and even directs their own videos. The Minneapolis-based artists made their debut to our YouTube channel when their video for “The Jüg” shined like a diamond in the deep abyss of our submissions folder. The pair returns to our pages to premiere an eccentric pair of visuals for their new track “Pablo”, and it’s an exemplary showcase of their abilities.
Produced by Spencer Joles, the track is a bilateral analysis of the way the two see the world. As always, both members excel in their respective verses, critiquing life around them with mind-bending bars that will surely cause ego-death to any aspiring emcees. The cynical nature of the verses are balanced out by an uplifting chorus that celebrates the beauty in the madness. “Beautiful disaster oh this life I made” they belt out in said chorus.
Shot by Liban Mahamoud and Spencer Joles, the video itself is four minutes of Odd Future-level absurdity. Nazeem is buried alive, a small dog with a buster collar gallops through a field, and Spencer spazzes out with a version of himself that seems to be trapped inside of a TV. It’s all put together brilliantly with 100 percent of the creative direction coming straight from duo.
