Last night, a handful of legendary musicians were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Among the inductees was first-ballot runner Jay Z, also the first rapper to ever be honored by the Hall. Due to Beyoncé (reportedly) giving birth to twins last night, HOV couldn’t make the ceremony but got a nice message directly from the former POTUS.

Barack Obama recorded a two-minute clip congratulating the honorees, including a heartfelt speech for his close friend. Watch the full clip below.
