Original vibes from the new Toronto’s #1 artist to watch.

Madhouse has a new two-track out that does more to bridge pop-punk and R&B than most music in recent memory. There’s pointed lyricism, twanged inflections, and dramatic breakdowns. Produced by Madhouse, featuring additional production from Spyder, “Awoken” is awash with filmy emotion and layered vocals.

Produced by Madhouse, “How I’ve Grown”, at just 1:54 long, is immersive in the way music can be. When the second verse comes in, and the vocals take the stage to shine, the vibe of the song is entirely accomplished. The song ends abruptly.

In “Awoken”, everything is measured pop, punk, rhythm, and blues until 1:46, where one of the more ambitious, rewarding, and telling moments in music in 2019 is had: the production falls out and is replaced with a strumming guitar over which Madhouse extolls lyrics that feel the most personal.
