“Chilling in the hills, hills have eyes. Can’t be seen with you, you don’t match my fly.”
Tierra Whack has in a matter of mere months cemented herself as one of music’s lyrically and artistically elite. For my money, there was no better album released last year than Whack World. Her incredible storytelling combined with staunch visuals and a shifting of expectations of what a finished song looks like made for one of the most compelling compositions of the year. Now, in 2019, Whack is refocussing on her ascension.
She’s stayed quite busy in recent weeks dropping a string of successful singles. Her latest, “Wasteland”, is a brooding new track that finds Whack feeling as confident as ever on the heels of her recent releases, “Only Child”, “Clones”, and most recently, “Gloria”.
“Wasteland” may be her most eloquent single to release since Whack World, however, as Whack makes clear that she’s not settling for anything less than what she deserves.
