Take a quick break from auto-tune with The BlackSon.

I love the whole new wave of autotune, plug beats, and in your face antics, but sometimes a change of pace can be a welcome thing. The BlackSon is a quite conscious artist from Nashville, and quite frankly is more of a poet than a rapper. His lyrics are welcomingly thought provoking and his overall tone feels inviting and warm.

Observations like, “we all feel it, the distance between science and spirit, it’s important to recognize the engineering,” are refreshing in a world of designer clothes and hoes. He even jabs at the clout culture that has birthed itself in the rap scene stating, “I need divine inspiration, what the fuck is clout?” If you are sick of the standard ad-libbing, drug references, tired lyrics, and shouting that have become the norm, then I would certainly give The BlackSon a listen.
