Comparisons are probably the worst thing in music. Way too often, we come across somebody with a special gift, and we immediately try to box them in with others who we deem similar. This is why when Swedish native Sebastian Mikael’s new EP, I C U U C ME, Pt. 1 came across my speakers, I did everything I could not to say it… but, I couldn’t help it, he sounded like the second coming of D’Angelo.

I C U U C ME is a super soulful, easily digestible EP that showcases Mikael’s incredibly infectious and funky style of creating music. Throughout the project, Mikael relies heavily on electric guitars, banging drum kicks and a range of vocal patterns that are ingeniously bent in a way that will find you hard pressed not to make a comparison to the aforementioned D’Angelo, especially on, “U Ain’t Fair.”

On that song, the project’s de facto standout, Sebastian taps into a range of emotions, as he belts about a love that has gone wrong, and sour motivations over an incredibly enjoyable army of instrumentation that’s buoyed by a stretch where Sebastian delivers some of the most bone-chilling vocals of 2018.

Though 2019 has already begun, we can’t let you forget that gems that came out at the tail-end of 2018, and by all measures, this is one of those gems. Press play below and get familiar with Sebastian Mikael.
