Solomonilla’s “Whole Life” is the second music video released from this year’s A3C Festival compilation, A3C Volume 7. The LA by-way-of Maryland artist-producer, Solomonilla, has an eclectic sound that pushes the boundaries of what is considered “hip-hop” with each record. With thought-out melodies and clever lyricism leading the way, Solo has been able to remain a consistent force in the underground scene, and is primed to break out soon.
Solomonilla’s “Whole Life” is among the standout songs featured on this year’s 49-track project, A3C Volume 7. The visual for “Whole Life,” which was shot in Los Angeles by European director Xavier LaCroix, invokes a cinematic vibe for the spacious David Morse produced track.
The A3C compilation series has been influential within the genre, serving as a barometer to gauge which artists will become renowned staples in the ever-changing hip-hop landscape. Past compilation artists include G-Eazy, Curren$y, Action Bronson, Big K.R.I.T, Vince Staples, Ab-Soul, A$AP Rocky, Danny Brown, Underachievers, Smoke DZA, Trademark Da Skydiver, Freddie Gibbs, Sir Michael Rocks, Alex Wiley, Mick Jenkins, Dave East, Thouxanbanfauni, Robb Bank$, Michael Christmas, Tunji Ige, Manolo Rose, and Trinidad James, just to name a few. For this reason, the compilation has seen praise from various outlets including Apple, as its editors raved, “the A&R rep has done a commendable job, cherry-picking some of the most promising, would-be rap stars from countless wannabes.”
