Nashville duo goes insane.

“Soundcloud” rap has become somewhat of an enigma, independent of all other established musical genres. It’s too abstract to be considered true trap music, and lacks the lyrical content of true hip-hop. To many, this new bastardization of rap isn’t music whatsoever, but it seems to be derived from another source than rap itself. This loud, almost lyrically incoherent, but certainly inconsistent, style seems to me more in line with the punk scene of years past than any established norm. The beats are obnoxiously noisy and the bass shakes venues and vehicles alike. The lyrics aren’t typically about particular thing and certainly has little theme, however, the content is oftentimes ridiculously politically charged and angry. Sound familiar?

Aesthetics are judged over musical quality and the vibe a track brings the listener is more important than a deeper message. Ronin and Unhappy Hank‘s new intense track “Kill Your Local Racist,” is a perfect example of this new wave. Ronin’s vocals are powerful and angry. He is concise in his message and the song goes by quickly, another parallel to punk. Ronin has the perfect tone to make fierce lyrics come to life in a lively manner. Unhappy Hank is one of the most slept on producers in the entire music industry, and is just as talented as any other producer around. His beats are heavy and open and are perfect for a rapper to vent on and say whatever the fuck they want. I can only imagine how wild a visual would be for this track.

Everything about this track is hard and I urge you to listen.
