Top Dawg Ent. rarely misses. Jay Rock, Kendrick, Isaiah Rashad, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and SZA were all tremendous successes and have been making fantastic music since they put pen to paper with the Compton label. Top Dawg, Punch, and co. have been incredibly judicious in choosing the artists they bring on, and this carefulness is exactly what leads to their ability to score on every single signee. After one listen to their newest signee’s celebratory single, it appears Reason will be no different.

Cut from the same lyrical cloth as his new peers, Reason has a tremendous flow and a poetic capacity only rivaled by few. His words are clever, calculated, and paint a beautiful picture of the street and his experience with music, as well as his motivations for his songs. He explains that he has to make it for his loved ones, as his family is still living in poverty and he knows well that this new opportunity is what will take them to a new fiscal stratosphere. Reason also cites a much more intriguing rationale than the albeit wholesome and highly admirable cliche of wanting to give his parents a better life. He says, “I was given a blessing, It’s a slap in God’s face if I ain’t a living legend.” This spiritual connection and all consuming motivation to create timeless music is the same fuel to the fires of every other Top Dawg master of the universe, and Reason certainly has the necessary tools to be the next star from the TDE camp.
