This is worth the listen.
Self-awareness is one of the most important qualities a human can have. Sure, it’s super healthy to perceive yourself based on the judgments of others — sarcasm — but knowing your strengths, weaknesses, likes & dislikes is key to a happy life. On his new EP, I’LL BE A PIECE OF SHIT 4 EVA, Efland, North Carolina native Caterpillar Jones does a lot of that soul-searching.
Clocked in at 4 tracks, the EP is a re-release of his 2016 project, I’ll Be A Piece Of Shit ‘Till November, but it was taken off due to creative reasons. Repackaged and cut to those 4 tracks, the project showcases my favorite qualities of the Efland rapper. While his cadences and demeanor are ultra-aggressive, the content of his lyrics is potent, substantial and hits you right in the heart.
On the track, “Testosterone,” Jones gives a compelling performance, writing about his struggles with infidelity & how it’s not only hurt his woman, but his son and his family unit as a whole. Backed by a serene hook performed by Najee Muhammad, “Testosterone” is without a doubt the EP’s standout song.
