Today we get a new one from Miami-based myKeL, an interesting singer/songwriter that has combined a love for disparate influences into a sound wholly his own, demonstrated on "i don't see a thing".
To be honest, this track feels like one that could exist in almost any of the last three decades. A sort of lo-fi guitar backing a paced drums makes it at once reflective and forward-leaning. The guitar solo towards the end is also authentic and refreshing at a time when it seems the aesthetic is only applied to achieve a gimmick.
There's none of those here, with careful play across harmonies and melodies front to back, myKeL proves here that he's a true musician that's taking the extra effort to write from his own experiences. Currently in Los Angeles where he established the re.codes collective with the collaborator on this single, bear.
