The time has finally come for one of my most anticipated albums to drop. Mick Jenkins delivers us his debut album The Healing Component. Mick’s music has only progressed since the release of his highly acclaimed mixtape The Waters. There’s 15 songs on the album, and not one of them sound the same, but they all work together in a cohesive and sonically pleasing way. The conversations he has with different people about love throughout the album are reminiscent of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The south side emcee shows love to his Chicago friends with features from theMIND, Ravyn Lenae, and Noname. The standout tracks for me are “Drowning”, “Communicate”, and “Angels”. Take a listen below.
