MC Bravado Is "Like Kobe"
The visuals for "Like Kobe," the anthemic lead single from MC Bravado's The Living Game, arrived just in time for Kobe Day, alongside the album itself. MC B and Slaughterhouse alum Joell Ortiz finished the song when Kobe was still with us, but creating the music video six months after the 2020 Calabasas Helicopter Tragedy allowed for elements of tribute in the visual itself. It maintains the song's level of focus and ferocity throughout the performances but intertwines a series of stories that pay tribute to Kobe and his daughter, the Lady Mamba: Gianna Bryant.
Shot and directed by Mike Jon (with additional direction and footage from Jay Perez, David Anderson, and Dariel Pujuls), the visual takes us on a ride up 95 from Baltimore to New York, featuring appearances from professional ballers and streetball legends. We can only hope our nod to the Mamba Mentality would've resonated with the man himself.
The Living Game is a candid portrait of an everyman on fire. MC Bravado’s upcoming album encapsulates an artist going “all in," highlighting the full gamut of emotions and consequences from such a life and career-altering decision. Executive produced by Brandon Lackey with features from Joell Ortiz and more, The Living Game is heady, honest, visceral, and one of the most compelling Hip Hop albums of the year.
