For the past five years of his career, Lil Durk has been signed to a recording contract with Def Jam. As the label looks to travel in a new direction, the Chicago rapper has shared his first ever release as an independent artist with a new project titled “Just Cause Y’all Waited.”

“I’m a different artist than I was five years ago, and the time is right for a change,” Durk said in a statement. “At the same time, Def Jam is making changes in their offices and trying a new direction. I didn’t want to be a part of another regime change.”

The 12-track effort features guest appearances from PARTYNEXTDOOR, Ty Dolla $ign, Gunna and Lil Baby.
