When bridging the gap between rap and rock music, it must be handled with extreme caution. If done incorrectly, it comes off as subpar, cringe-worthy at its’ worst. But the right approach can marriage the two genres and create something that encapsulates the best of both worlds. Kansas City-native LateNitee deftly handles this task on his new atmospheric release “4 Pills.” With a large, enveloping beat that sandwiches his vocals under mounds of audio effects, LateNitee croons like his life depends on it. The track grows upon repeated relistens because of its honesty about drug use in contemporary times.
