Rockie Brown is an artist out of Las Vegas who first landed on the scene with her indie single, “Soul Sister Retribution.” Since then, she's been hired as one of the Las Vegas Raider's singers.

In Rockie Brown's latest release, "Tell Me Lies" (The Blast! Ministry / Sony Music Publishing), Brown talks about having a family member lose their way to conspiracies.

How would you describe your style?

Dark-pop. I have a powerful vocal approach and haunting melodies while colliding genres and pushing comfort zones lyrically. I consider myself a music/message outlet for women, LGBTQIA+, and the angst-ridden.

What do you want the world to know about your brand?

My brand def sends the message of girl power. My vocals are pretty intense and my performance style is aggressive. I write my lyrics about relationships, equality, women’s empowerment, and the world from my lens.

Please tell us more about your live approach.

We had an opportunity to do a stripped-down show and fell in love with this format. We found our new layout to be a bit more interesting musically and electronically. We were inspired by loop artists and multi-instrumentalists. Especially when we had talked about touring, the smaller setup just made sense not only how it fits with our music but also from a financial standpoint.

What's your biggest inspiration as an artist?

Right now, current affairs. I’m at a point now where I want to talk about real issues. I wanna make people think. We’re living in a crazy time. People are angry, scared, and unsettled. At times, so am I. I'm using my truths as a weapon.

What advice do you have for other artists?

Focus on the craft. Focus on what makes you happy. The business side of the industry will always be a part of it, but obsessing over the numbers and having expectations is a joy killer. That goes for everything in life. If you’re in it because you want clout and accolades, you’re in it for the wrong reasons and it’s not sustainable. Your passion is where longevity lies. Focus on doing good work you can be proud of. Focus on your legacy.
