The rap game itself won’t make you insanely rich, but with the right mindset, it’s possible to turn a successful hip-hop career into a billion-dollar legacy. Jay-Z and Diddy are two prime examples, as they’ve smoothly transitioned from full-time recording artists to highly respected business moguls. By making smart investments and branching out into different industries, countless rappers have secured major bags in various fields (a prime example: Dr. Dre’s transitioning from rapper/producer to headphone connoisseur). Forbes recently unveiled an updated list for Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists, and it came as no surprise to see Jay-Z’s name atop the list for the very first time.

Thanks in-part to his investments in Armand De Brignac Champagne and D’usse, HOV’s net worth sits at a pretty $900 million (an increase from last year at $810 million). This is the first year since the list’s conception in 2011 that Diddy has fallen below Jay, increasing competition between two of the music industry’s biggest tycoons.

Dr. Dre finishes at #3 right behind Puff Daddy, as his $770 million net-worth continues to increase thanks to Apple’s $3 billion buyout of Beats in 2014. According to Forbes, “Jay-Z, Diddy and Dre are not only the wealthiest hip-hop acts on the planet, but the richest American musicians of any genre.”

Eminem and Drake tie for the #4 and #5 spots, each sporting a hefty $100 million in their respective bank accounts.
