Jaden Smith‘s foundation and a local church are working together to bring clean water to Flint, Michigan. The rapper’s organization announced on Friday that they’ll be deploying mobile water filtration systems known as “The Water Box” that will help reduce lead and other potentially harmful chemicals in the town’s water supply.
The church, First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church has distributed over 5 million water bottles to date to Flint’s residents but notes that water donations are on the decline. Enter Jaden Smith and his “Water Box” that will surely help thousands of residents. Flint has been replacing water lines after lead-tainted water was discovered in 2014. The lead began leaching from pipes after the city tapped the Flint River for drinking water without properly treating it to reduce corrosion.
In an era where it’s easy to get caught up in the many twitter beefs and antics that have come to surround the entertainment industry, it’s time to tip our caps to Jaden Smith for his philanthropic efforts.
