Trenton, New York artist J Swellz is putting his pain on wax with “Dead Bodies.” In the new visual effort, the 17-year-old showcases his hard work coming up in his neighborhood where he had to learn at a young age to watch his back. Trusting your own family can get you killed these days. J Swellz sounds exhausted by seeing so many people go. When he sings the hook, I can visualize the picture he’s painting. Using his lyrics as a paintbrush for his listeners. I wanted to see more in the video that actually relates to the song. Maybe some yellow tape, an ambulance, even a gravesite would’ve helped. J Swellz needs to make the video connect more to the song. In the future, I hope to see him be more creative with his visuals.
