Artist comparisons often grow bland, though it’s simply part of human nature to juxtapose or contrast two similar qualities. Despite my personal lack of fondness for comparison, I often find myself pinning a certain sound/style to a particular group of artists. However when it comes to Atlanta native Hanzo, I’ve failed at finding anything even remotely similar to his swagger and aura.

Known for his production placements and solo material alike, Hanzo has established himself as one of SoundCloud’s most undefinable creatives. On some days he’ll upload a bass-heavy rap banger like “Mulhollannd,” while on others he tones it down a notch for a more ambient, pop-focused record like “Frozen.”

Due to high demand from his rapidly growing fanbase, Hanzo has unleashed a few of his most beloved tracks on Spotify and Apple Music. Titled “Vol. 1,” the compilation features a wide range of tracks and does a fantastic job at showcasing Hanzo’s eclectic style.
