GOON Des Garcons* is back on the Elevator pages with his latest visual for “Shia LaBeouf.” This hazy, VHS visual finds GDG* in dark, sparse scenes. The nighttime scenes play perfectly with the production, which takes on a similar darkness.
The LA-native, born in Little Rock, Arkansas, hits on his love-hate situation with the Big City, his outlook on his career, and dreams of trips to Tokyo. It seems like music takes on a larger meaning for Goon, since doing this all on his own, he looks to instill confidence in the kids. as he raps “teach ’em how to fly.”
The Sascha Amir directed videos, from Dogma Production Studios, plays almost as the inverse of what is popular in current music videos today. Seemingly shot on a camcorder, the video doesn’t attempt to flash any sort of computer tricks or insane editing techniques. The video takes on a minimalist approach, using camera zooms and standard cut scenes to splice together clips, giving the video that true DIY feel.
