Washington, DC MC Gonzo031‘s new single “I’m Thuggin'” is easily one of my favorite trap joints of the summer already, and will definitely land in my personal playlists. For starters, MilwaukeeJosh’s instrumental is trunk-shaking and otherworldly, as he mixes booming 808s and animated synths to make the perfect beat for Gonzo to rap on. But by no means is this another song where the instrumental outshines the rapping aspect. Gonzo’s delivery is effortless and his lyrics are introspective and grimy. This is a nearly perfect track and I thoroughly enjoyed it from front to back.
