pinkcaravan! & Namesake shot by, ⁦‪@rigoshotme‬⁩

Saint Louis native pinkcaravan! is one of the more peculiar artists of the last couple of years. Buoyed by an array of unconventional cadences and bubble gum beats with idiosyncratic melodies and easy-to-tweet lyrics, the singer/rapper returns with her brilliant new EP, 2002.

Comprised of a short, but highly effective 7-tracks, 2002 is an eccentric, highly infectious and experimental EP that pulls heavily from early 2000’s pop culture themes and references. With its’ quirky production acting as the driving force, producer Namesake perfectly sets up caravan!’s soft, yet impactful voice with all sorts of unorthodox sounds like bird chirps (“Missy Elliot”), something that sounds distinctively like an ice cream truck  (“Bombpopman”) and plenty of other weird, but intricate sounds.

With the aforementioned songs serving as a couple early favorites from the project, the gem has to be in the form of the intro, “Hot Wheelz.” Inspired by theme songs from most Millennial child-hoods — hence the 2002 title — the song showcases caravan!’s best qualities as an artist; her knack for melodic exploration, the way she structures her lyrics and perhaps most importantly, her ability to make you have fun while listening to her music.

Check out, 2002 below and be sure to keep an eye on pinkcaravan!.
