Respect Afrobeats! Chances are some of you all’s favorite songs to dance to at parties come from artists within the genre but you may not know their names. Thankfully, we’ve got DJ Boat and Richie Benson to introduce you to with their new single “The Man.” And they’ve got some beautiful women to help get the point across, in the dance cover video.

The island vibes here are contagious, and we can’t help but imagine being somewhere warm with a drink in our hands listening to this song. Much credit to these artists for putting together such a complex beat, highlighted by percussion and synths but strengthened by their chants. The song finds its way into your head immediately, with a very catchy hook and just the overall feel-good ambiance.

It’s not easy creating good music in a genre as specific as Afrobeats, but the performance here comes as no surprise given DJ Boat has manned his own Afrobeats radio station for quite some time now. Curating a musical experience for others so often has evidently equipped Boat with the ability to put together his own original sound, and Benson certainly heightens the track.
