If you follow the right people, Twitter is one of the most entertaining places on the internet. @mineifiwildout has established himself as one of the most hysterical personalities on the platform, confirmed by over 97,000 followers and daily interaction that rivals some of the website’s most influential accounts.
We recently had the chance to catch up with the 23-year-old Harvard dropout. Learn more about Big Tan and his revolutionary Twitter game in our exclusive interview below.
Name: Alex
Age: 23
Hometown: Raleigh, NC
Where’d your username come from?
I saw a bunch of pics with ‘Y’all Mine If I Wild Out’ or whatever on em a while back, and just changed my handle to @mineifiwildout because I thought it was funny. I don’t really like it, but I’m too deep to change it now. The Big Tan thing is just some random shit I started using because I didn’t wanna put my real name on there.
When did you first join Twitter and what were your intentions?
I had a Twitter in like 2012, but it was just a personal account. Then, I made my current Twitter in 2013 with a weird picture and handle. I used it until I got to 5k followers, and then didn’t use it again for like 2 years or something like that. I started using it again around August of last year.
When did you start to notice traction on your account?
It was pretty slow compared to what it is now. I hit 10k followers in January and then it just kinda blew. I didn’t expect it. It’s weird.
What was the first tweet of yours that went viral?
Pretty sure it was the “No more saying I’m high or I’m faded in 2017..we say “I’m sautéed now” thing.
no more saying “im high” or “im faded” in 2017. we say “im sautéed” now

How quickly have you accumulated your following?
Mostly from January 2017 until now.
Do your friends know about your Twitter? Your parents?
My close friends know about it. My parents don’t know about and I hope they never find out, haha.
when lil pump said “because maybe you’re gonna be the one that saves me, and after all .. you’re my wonderwall” i really felt it

If real-life friends that were previously unaware of your Twitter find out, are they usually surprised? Like, would a normal person expect you to have a hilarious personality online?
I don’t think people that I hang out with would be surprised, because I always say dumb shit constantly around them. But people that I’m friends with and don’t really talk to that much would probably be surprised, I guess.
People that I just met would never know, though. I don’t really bring Twitter up in real life conversation too often. I honestly try to keep it hidden for the most part.
How surprised were you when you raised enough money for a Gucci Belt?
I was so surprised. Some fool donated $200. I fuck with it though, I didn’t think it was actually gonna happen. I was just joking around.
Thanks to whoever donated. I keep forgetting to put it on lately, but I flex with it every now and then.
What’s the most popular tweet you’ve ever had?
I don’t even know. There’s a few that have 100k+ likes or whatever, but I don’t know if I’ve broke 200k yet.
Personal favorite tweet?
Probably the sautéed tweet because I’ll randomly run across people on Twitter actually saying it. Shouts out Bill Ratchet though, he played a big part in that. Bill, I love you.
It’s hard to remember a lot of my tweets I like, but I’ll run across them here and there, and just kinda geek laughing at em.

Any Twitter trends that you can claim?
Not really. I’d feel super corny to try and claim any sort of style of tweets. I just tweet stupid stuff me and my friends talk about, or stuff I think is funny.
Have you ever had an interaction with someone wildly famous through Twitter?
No one like crazy famous off the top of my head, besides a few rappers following me.
Do you plan on turning social media into a career?
I don’t really bank on it. It’d be cool to somehow turn it into a job if it payed decent. I really just tweet because it’s fun/funny. Ay, but if anyone reading this wants to give me a job, please hire me.
Are you in school?
Na. Me and Lil Pump lived in the same dorm at Harvard for like two weeks until we dropped out.
