So 99% of the content you see from me on Elevator will be hip-hop, but I stumbled across this album and lost it. I have crazy loud traffic outside my bedroom window and used to listen to soothing sounds like a babbling brook or a thunderstorm off in the distance on Spotify, but I’m now switching to this. This is the waviest, most soulful music I have heard in a minute. From Deem’s dizzying range of vocal prowess to the masterful arrangement of the live instrumentation, No Place Like Now is a cohesive fusion of contemporary jazz and next-level songwriting. If you want to warm up with a song you probably already know, here’s Arielle covering Kendrick Lamar’s “These Walls,” and stream her entire album below. If you like what you hear, support real music and buy a copy.
