Houston native Trevor Daniel is a singer-songwriter, who has amassed over millions of plays on his hit single “Pretend”. He came to Austin for the festivities and mass congregation of artistry. We had a chance to sit down with him and have a conversation about new music as he recently released his new single “Mirrors”

Trevor, what was your inspiration behind this song?

There’s been a good amount of meeting new faces and realizing how shallow people can be. They seem like they’d be interesting with how everyone presents themselves nowadays.

Can you explain and go through the creative process that led to this creation?

I’ve been focusing on production a lot and I tend to gravitate towards sounds based off of how I hear something in my head. This was on my chest for a bit too so that was helpful to the energy going into the sound.

You have introspective records and records where you play up more of your persona, which do you find the most fun to write?

I have fun doing all of it.

Which ones do you like the most?

It just depends on the day. But I have some unreleased tracks that play on both. So you’ll get to hear them soon!

How would you describe this record?

It’s one of my favorites.

How is SXSW going for you this year?

Music, Food, Beer, It’s all pretty great haha.

Who are/were you most excited to see?

Salt Cathedral. They were amazing!

Any rekindling of old friendships, or the birth of a new one?

No old friendships, but I meet people I like from time to time.

Any plans for when you get back home?

I’m going to keep on rolling.

Anything you want to tell your fans?

Thank you all for everything; know we’re going to change the world. You guys can hit me up too by the way +1-310-340-6094. I get back to everyone when I can.

Anything you want to say to those that are just being introduced to you?

Enjoy!
